“Before the sessions, I didn’t know much about managing my period. The information I received has helped me understand my cycle better and manage my menstruation without stress, and I feel more confident. The training on healthy relationships taught me the importance of mutual respect and consent. I used to think it was normal to always agree with my partner, but now I understand that a healthy relationship is built on equal respect and communication. Furthermore, I didn’t know that safe and legal abortion services were available until we discussed it in the sessions. Understanding my options, including where to access safe and legal abortion services, has given me peace of mind, knowing that I have control over my reproductive health and can make informed decisions about my future”

CLARISSE, 15 years old

Adolescent participant

"Before the sessions, I was lost and overwhelmed as a young mother. At just 14 years old, I was ostracized by my family and left to fend for myself. The SRHR sessions changed my life. I learned about managing my emotional breakdowns and avoiding negative influences. The knowledge I gained about reproductive health helped me make informed decisions. Despite being excluded by my family, the sessions provided me with a new support system. I now feel stronger and more resilient. I want to share this knowledge with my community and help others navigate similar challenges. My advice to other teen mothers is to resist negative temptations and surround themselves with positive influences."

Emelyne, 14 years old

Adolescent participant.

"Before attending the SRHR sessions, I felt trapped by societal abuse and discouragement. At 14, I became a mother and faced immense challenges, including depression and a lack of social support. The SRHR education provided me with a supportive community and lessons on self-focus and goal setting. This helped me abandon negative habits and transform my life. I now feel empowered to live in any situation and dedicated to providing a better life for my child. Understanding my sexual rights and reproductive health options has given me peace of mind and a renewed sense of purpose. The SRHR education helped me build resilience and find happiness."

Frequently Asked Questions

Have Any Questions For Us?

At Bold Women Rwanda, we tackle health and hygiene needs through comprehensive sexuality education (CSE), ensuring individuals understand their bodies and rights. We specifically address issues like puberty, menstruation, menstrual health hygiene, and combating period poverty. Furthermore, we train healthcare providers to ensure quality support for women's reproductive health and survivors of gender-based violence, promoting holistic well-being.

Access to clean water significantly impacts the health and dignity of women and girls. It reduces the time spent fetching water, which can free up time for education or economic activities, and directly contributes to improved hygiene, especially for menstrual health, preventing illness and empowering girls.

Bold Women Rwanda aims to enhance knowledge, break stigma, and ensure access to legal options related to sexual and reproductive health. This includes comprehensive education on bodily autonomy, healthy relationships, and consent, empowering women and girls with informed choices.

Yes, ending violence against women and girls is a core pillar. Bold Women Rwanda confronts GBV through community engagement, prevention education, and by supporting survivors. They also work with men and boys as allies to shift negative social norms and advocate for respect of women's rights.
